Sustainable Outcomes for Disaster-Affected Households in Bulembia: Project Update.
The Great Lakes Peace Center (GLPC) team paid a courtesy visit to the beneficiaries under the disaster resilience project in Kyanzuki Ward, Bulembia Division.
The beneficiaries are Mr. Twesigye Ibrahim and Miss Biira Racheal who benefited from the first cohort with support from Spirit In Action (SIA) in 2002.
In a conversation with Mr. Twesigye, he revealed that the goats have helped him cover his medical bills as he was battling with Intestinal obstruction. He still has two goats left .
Miss Biira Racheal revealed that the goats project has helped her cover school fees for her 3 Children. Her goats have increased in numbers and now she has 2 adult goats and 4 kids amongst them each gave birth to two kids . She has also set up a kitchen garden beside her home to support food security.
The executive director thanked the two beneficiaries for keeping the project alive and promised them continued support from Great Lakes Peace Center and partners like Spirit in Action (SIA) .
Through this project, GLPC has been assisting vulnerable households through various livelihood programs, including goat farming, urban and homestead farming, microfinance grants, and training in nature-based solutions to combat climate change.
